Edward Hopper was an American realistic painter & printmaker from 20th century. He is well known for his flair in oil paintings.

He mostly worked on landscape, cityscapes & isolated figures.

He was born on 22 July, 1882 in Nyack, in a middle-class family.

During his studies in art schools, he shifted from illustration to fine arts.

In Jan 1920, his first solo exhibition featured 16 paintings, at the Whitney Studio Club, New York.

And in 1993, Modern Art Museum obtained his first painting, House by the Railroad.

Later in 2009, he was awarded with Umhoefer Prize for Achievement in the Arts & Humanities.

His works are still considered among the iconic paintings in American art.
