Claes Oldenburg is a Swedish-American artist, famous for his public sculptures.

He was born on 28 Jan 1929, in  Stockholm, Sweden.

From 1946 to 1950, he studied Art History at Yale University.

Later, in 1953, he opened his own studio & became a naturalized citizen of the US.

After few years, in 1957, he started working on the idea of ​​soft sculpture (a art which is made with paper, rubber, cloth & foam rubber).

In late 1964, he collaborated with gallery Pace (an American contemporary & modern art gallery) which hosted his first solo exhibition.

He was also honoured with 'Wolf Prize in Art' (awarded annually by the not-profit Wolf Foundation in Israel).

Spoonbridge & Cherry is two of his most iconic sculptures.
